October 29, 2022 – North American Hockey League (NAHL)Minot Minotauros News Release

Minot, ND – After a decisive 5-2 victory in the state’s capital city Friday, Minot looked to sweep Highway 83 rival, the Bismarck Bobcats, back in the Magic City.

In first-period action, Bismarck kicked off the festivities with Michael Neumeier scoring 5:17 into the contest. Minot evened the score at 1-1 just 15 seconds later. Then, Hunter Longhi logged his sixth of the season with a non-assisted goal.

The Tauros killed off two Bobcats penalties in the second period but could not convert on a power play opportunity. Shots on goal were 21-10 in favor of Minot heading into the third frame.

Neither team could get on the scoresheet until there was 3:44 left in the third period. Then, Colby Joseph capitalized on a bad Bobcats turnover to make it 2-1 in favor of Minot. Trevor Stachowiak had a fantastic game and assisted on the goal.

Minot was able to hold to a 2-1 lead and sweep the weekend series against the Bobcats. The Tauros have won three of four against their in-state rival. They now have a piece of first place in the Central Division.

On Friday, Minot Minotauros goaltender Dane Couture stopped 31 of 33 shots on the road to defeat the Bismarck Bobcats 5-2 in the state’s capital city.

After a scoreless first period, just 3:25 into the second frame, Tauros Cam Bullinger defected defenseman Briggs Orr shot from the point past Bobcats goalie CJ Kier to put Minot up 1-0. Bullinger’s goal was his first in his NAHL career.

Five minutes later, Bismarck evened the score when forward Adam Palchik logged his first of the season to make it 1-1.

It didn’t take too long for the Tauros t regain the lead at 2-1 as Colby Joseph netted his third goal of the season on the power play with assists from Hunter Longhi and defenseman Nick O’Hanisian at 10:58 of the second.

The Tauros continued their second-period power play success, adding another marker with 3:57 left. Trevor Stachowiak was the goal scorer, while Martin and Bergman a provided the assists.

At 6:06 of the third period, Minot continued to find the back of the net when Chase LaPinta collected his third goal in this year’s campaign, with Longhi and Dauphinais adding the assists to make it 4-1.

Bismarck made it 4-2 midway thru the third. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, that would be the last time they would get on the scoreboard as defenseman Colby Woogsk tallied an empty net goal to make it a 5-2 win for the Tauros.

With Minot winning Friday, they have now beaten their Highway 83 rivals in two of three games going into Saturday’s contest back at Maysa Arena.
