Bismarck, ND – After a frustrating 4-0 loss on Friday in the Magic City, Minot registered an impressive 4-1 victory on the road against in-state rival, the Bismarck Bobcats.

Connor Longhi logged his second goal of the season on the power play at 17:44 in the second period. Nick O’Hanisain added another assist while Trevor Stachowiak picked up the secondary helper to make it 2-0.

The Tauros gave up an early goal at 4:13 of the third period to make it 2-1. Bismarck Adam Pietila cashed in on the scoring opportunity. However, that would be the last time the Bobcats would get on the scoreboard, with Minot taking control of the game and adding two more tallies to make it 4-1. Max Martin and Tory Lund were responsible for those goals.

With the 4-1 win, Minot improves to 4-4-0 with eight points, and the team is tied for fourth with Aberdeen in the league’s central division.

Lawton Zacher continues to impress, posting a win Saturday to improve his record to 4-1-0 with a 2.00 goals-against-average and a .931 save percentage.

On Friday night, Bismarck netminder Linards Lipskis picked up his first shutout this season, blanking the Tauros 4-0. The Riga, Latvia native made 36 saves to collect the win.

After a scoreless first period, Minot found themselves trailing 2-0 in the second frame. Bismarck defenseman Luke Roelofs scored an even-strength goal with 7:35 left in the second. Less than two minutes later, the Tauros gave up a power play goal to Bismarck forward Patrick Johnson to make it 2-0.

Despite outshooting the Bobcats 14-8 in the third period, Minot could not produce any goals while giving up two more tallies to make it 4-0. One of the goals was Bismarck’s second power play marker which was scored with 17:08 remaining in regulation. Finnish forward Verrti Jantunen logged the power play goal as he scored three points during the game.

Goalie Lawton Zacher had a strong outing stopping 40 of 44 Bobcats’ shots in a losing effort.

Next up for the Tauros is a rare single game weekend against the St. Cloud Norsemen.
