DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have re-signed linebacker Ian McBorrough to the 2023 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

McBorrough (6-2, 230, Morgan State) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his second season with the team. Collegiately, McBorrough had a successful four year career with the Morgan State University Bears. McBorrough earned numerous accolades during his time with the Bears and finished ranked fifth place in all-time tackles after collecting 252 total tackles, ten sacks, two interceptions, ten fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, and 18.5 tackles for loss in 44 games landing a workout with the Seattle Seahawks.


Making his Indoor Football League (IFL) debut in 2022, McBorrough appeared in 16 games with the Barnstormers collecting 83.5 total tackles, two sacks, and 17 tackles for loss.

“Getting Ian, the heart and soul of our 2022 defense, back is a huge score for us,” said Head Coach Mogensen. “Ian proved he has the ability to be a gamebreaker on defense in the IFL. We expect him to make a big jump in 2023 and be in the mix as the best linebacker in the league.”

McBorrough will return to Des Moines to join the Iowa Barnstormers 2023 Training Camp in the Spring.
