MBFC’s Frank Yallop Named as Nominee on Final Ballot for NSHOF Class of 2023

SEASIDE, Calif. – Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) Sporting Director and Head Coach Frank Yallop has been named as a nominee on the final ballot for the National Soccer Hall of Fame (NSHOF) Class of 2023 as a Builder. In the coming weeks, voting committees will vote to determine the six individuals who will be officially inducted to the NSHOF from the Class of 2023. Those six individuals will consist of three Players, two Veterans, and one Builder.
Yallop was amongst the Class of 2023 finalists announced on ESPN+ at halftime of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final between USL Championship’s Sacramento Republic FC and Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC on Wednesday, September 7.
The Watford, England native was the Head Coach for the San Jose Earthquakes from 2001-2003 where he led the team to two MLS Cup titles (2001, 2003). He then spent two years coaching the Canadian National Team before returning to the United States in 2006 to coach the Los Angeles Galaxy. He continued his tenure in the MLS when in 2008 he returned to San Jose and later at the Chicago Fire from 2013 to 2015. Most recently, Yallop has been integral to the growth of USL Championship serving in coaching and leadership positions with Phoenix Rising FC, Fresno FC and Las Vegas Lights FC.
In addition to Yallop’s other impressive coaching accomplishments, he has also been named MLS Coach of the Year twice in his career, with the first honor coming in 2001. The second and most recent came in 2012, the same year in which his side won the MLS Supporters Shield. Yallop won his first MLS Supporters Shield in 1996 as a player for the Tampa Bay Mutiny.
