The Latest – Republic FC
Wednesday’s loss to Phoenix marked only the second loss at home all season. After a dominating second half against the Arizona side, the club’s looking to get their footing back. With limited time to prepare given the quick turnaround, the Quails will strive to fine tune their fundamentals ahead of the important contest.
Sacramento remains just one point away from a playoff berth entering the match. A win or draw over Los Dos will put the club in the postseason as well as pull them one step closer to a home match in the first round.
Opponent Report
Los Dos will be well rested, having not played since September 18 against El Paso Locomotive. The gap in competition could just be what the squad needed, as prior, they had dropped three straight contests and won just a single time since July 15. The slide to close the summer has put them on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, but they’ve still yet to be eliminated from contention.
Head to Head
Since the start of the 2021 season, Sacramento has fallen just once to the SoCal side and enters the match on a two game unbeaten streak in the all-time fixture. The two clubs split points last October 13, before Republic FC recorded a shutout win on June 18 earlier this season – then a precursor to the Open Cup matchup with the parent squad three days later.
All time, Republic FC has claimed 12 wins and drawn seven times, while outscoring Los Dos 40-36 in 26 matches. The two’s storied history includes a pair of meetings in the postseason, with Sacramento taking a 3-2 victory in the 2014 semifinal before falling in the 2015 quarterfinal 1-0.
