The playoff picture in the Western Conference has looked tight all season, nothing changes in the final regular season weekend of the campaign as RGV FC finds themselves holding on to a postseason berth at the six seed currently. Things can go very well for the Toros or turn the night sour if they are not at their best performance, here are the scenarios.
There are two spots remaining and three teams in contention; RGV FC, Oakland Roots SC and Las Vegas Lights FC.
WIN – With a win RGV FC lock in their second consecutive playoff berth, a first in franchise history. If the current seven seed, Oakland Roots SC, earns a victory the Toros still remain the sixth seed by owning the head-to-head tie breaker by 1-0-1 record this campaign.
DRAW – A draw is also good enough for Toros to clinch thanks to the side holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over Oakland Roots SC (1-0-1) and Las Vegas Lights FC (1-1-0, +4 goal differential). RGV FC also currently holds a better points-per-game average against in-conference opposition than its two rivals. A draw could affect RGV FC’s seeding, however. If Oakland takes victory and the Toros only draw, RGV FC will go into the playoffs as the No. 7 seed.
LOSS – Get your superstitions amped up and watch closely, it is going to get rough waiting this one out. Las Vegas Lights FC’s match against the LA Galaxy II in California starts at 9:30pm CST, just moments after the final whistle at H-E-B Park likely. If the Toros lose, Oakland earns a draw or a win, and Lights FC wins, then RGV FC would be eliminated from playoff contention.

Stay tuned, it is going to be a wild night, but RGV FC are in good form at the right time. Look for an aggressive but cautious approach alternating throughout the match for the Toros as they try to end the regular season on a high note in front of their fans and push to earn a second consecutive playoff berth under Sporting Director + Head Coach, Wilmer Cabrera.
