Match Forecast: Tormenta FC vs. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC

October 14, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1)South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release

STATESBORO, Ga. – In the final game of the regular season, South Georgia Tormenta FC seeks to end its first-ever winning season by clinching a spot in the 2022 USL League One Playoffs, presented by Hisense, against the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC this Saturday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium.

South Georgia will play its second official fixture at Tormenta Stadium this Saturday as the team looks to end the regular season unbeaten in six games and seeks to position itself in the playoffs. With four of six spots already secured, two final spots are up for grabs, with three teams competing for an opportunity to get to the postseason.

The club announced yesterday that Owen Green is available for selection after Tormenta FC’s appeal to rescind the red card shown to Green in the team’s USL League One match against Union Omaha on Oct. 8 was supported by an Independent Review Panel.

Chattanooga visits Statesboro, Georgia, for the second time this season. The first time around, South Georgia defeated Chattanooga 2-1; during its visit to Chattanooga, the best visiting team in the league was shocked by a 2-1 defeat.

Red Wolves SC secured a playoff place last week after defeating North Carolina FC on the road. With a playoff spot secured, Chattanooga now pushes to host a playoff game and can obtain that with a win.

CLINCHING SCENARIO:

With varying results throughout Saturday’s fixtures, South Georgia could finish its regular season in second through seventh in the standings. If the team were to finish in a third or fourth position, Tormenta FC’s quarterfinal game would be hosted at Tormenta Stadium, which would be played between October 21-23. If South Georgia finishes second, the team will host the higher remaining seed from the quarterfinal round on Oct. 28-30. If a seventh-place finish were to occur, Tormenta FC would be eliminated from the playoffs and see its season end.

Following its second game at Tormenta Stadium, Tormenta FC will await its destiny to know whether its season ends on Saturday or gets to compete in its first League One playoffs.

Tormenta FC is excited about its second game at Tormenta Stadium. Single-match tickets are live for advance purchase ahead of all remaining home matches.
