Match Forecast: Tormenta FC at Union Omaha
October 7, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1) – South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
STATESBORO, Ga. – In the final away game of the League One regular season, South Georgia Tormenta FC visits reigning League One Champions Union Omaha on Match Day 28 this Saturday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. ET from Werner Park. South Georgia visits one of the most difficult away venues, as the team has been unable to defeat the Omaha side since joining the league in 2020. However, the best visiting team in the league has one of its last opportunities to win its 9th game on the road and continue to build as a team and secure its place in the 2022 USL League One Playoffs presented by Hisense.
South Georgia looks for its twelfth win this season after obtaining its eleventh win on the road against Forward Madison FC, achieving the double-digit win mark in a single season for the first time in club history. In its 100th game in USL League One and first-ever game at Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium, South Tormenta FC earned a 1-1 tie against the Richmond Kickers. Fuad Adeniyi scored Tormenta FC’s only goal of the night following a corner kick nearing the end of the first half.
Omaha has had a difficult time closing matches out during the latter half of the season. Omaha is winless in five straight games, with its last win coming on Sept. 3 in a 2-1 against the Chattanooga Red Wolves.
A South Georgia win at Union Omaha this Saturday can automatically clinch a playoff position for the Statesboro side. Although, if South Georgia is unable to win, a Northern Colorado loss or draw against FC Tucson this Saturday can also clinch a playoff position for the Navy and Magenta.
Following its fixture against Union Omaha, Tormenta FC will host the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in the final match of the regular season as the Red Wolves SC visit Optim Health System Field at Tormenta Stadium for the first time next Saturday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
