Lindstrom Added to U17 Roster

Medicine Hat, AB – After being snubbed from the original announcement a couple weeks ago, Tigers Forward Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd, BC) has been added to Team White at the upcoming World U17 Tournament in Langley, BC.


Lindstrom, 16, has scored four goals and added an assist in first 11 WHL games this season with his career line of 17 GP since late last season. Lindstrom also leads the team when it comes to the face-off circle so far this season as he’s clicking at over 57 percent.

The Tigers centremen says he’s looking forward to representing his country.

“It’s such an honour, ” he says. “When I wasn’t selected initially it motivated me to just keep working hard and to work on the little things that can make me a better all around player.”

On top of being selected, being a product of British Columbia, Lindstrom says he’ll have plenty support from in Langley.

“It’s very exciting, I’ve got lots of family and friends here supporting me and it’s going to very special to play in front of them.”

Tigers Head Coach & General Manager Willie Desjardins says Lindstrom has made great strides this season and is deserving of the call after not originally being selected.

“Cayden has been excellent for us during the time when the sections first occurred and he wasn’t in to now getting a chance to represent himself, the Tigers and Medicine Hat at the U17’s,” he says. “He’s got all the aspects to be a successful player at the tournament, a big body, strong skater and has that heavy shot. It’s exciting for him and for us to see what he can do against his age group.”

The Tigers will now have two members of the 2022-23 roster head to Langley, BC, Tuesday, preparations for the event. Lindstrom will join Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) as he will played for Team Red.

Lindstrom says he’s looking forward to playing against a familiar face in Mrsic.

“We haven’t played against each other too much in the past, mostly just battling against each other in practice but it’s going to be fun.”

The U17’s open up Thursday, November 3 as Lindstrom & Team White will face Sweden while Mrsic and Team Red will play Team Black. Both games start at 8PM Mountain Standard Time, the tournament concludes on November 12.
