LAFC to Face Austin FC in Western Conference Final Sunday, October 30 at Banc of California Stadium

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) will host Austin FCin the Western Conference Final on Sunday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. PT at Banc of California Stadium. (TV: ABC,ESPN 3 in Spanish; Radio: 710 AM ESPN / ESPN LA app,1110 AM, Sirius XM Channel 15and 980 AM La Mera Mera).


A stoppage time goal by forward Cristian Arango gave the Black & Gold a pass to the 2022 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

In 2021 LAFC faced Austin FC in three times in the regular season and claimed 9 points, winning all three games.In 2022 the Verde defeated LAFC in the two regular season matches of 2022.

Sunday’s contest will feature the 6thever matchup between both sides and the first ever meeting in playoffs. The Black and Gold are set to host the second seed in the Western Conference Standings who then defeated FC Dallas 2-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals.

NEWS & NOTES

LAFC advance to the Western Conference Final for the second time in club history and the first since 2019.

LAFC have now advanced to the Western Conference Final in each of the two seasons in which they won the Supporters’ Shield.

LAFC is now 2-3-0 all-time in the MLS Cup Playoffs, including 2-2-0 at Banc of California Stadium.

The victory snapped LAFC’s two-game postseason losing streak dating back to the 2019 playoffs.

Arango’s 93rd minute goal is the first postseason stoppage time winner in LAFC history. It is the fourth goal to be scored in second half stoppage time during the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs, but the first to be a game-winner.

Carlos Vela is the only LAFC player to have played in all five of the club’s all-time postseason games.
