Head-to-Head:
Owen Sound won this season’s opening battle between the two clubs by a score of 4-3 on October 1st, 2022. The Rangers still hold the advantage over the Attack across the last three seasons posting a 13-10-3-1 record dating back to the start of the 2018-19 campaign. Their best span was during that 2018-19 season when the Rangers recorded a 6-2-0-0 showing in eight games and winning all four on home ice at The Aud.
Scouting the Rangers:
Defenceman Simon Motew is off to a hot start leading all defencemen on the Rangers roster with 4 points (1G, 3A) in as many games. Simon’s 4 points is all good for a tie in 9th overall for points by defencemen thus far. Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) and Matthew Sop still lead the forward group with 5 points each.
Tomas Hamara (Ottawa Senators), Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) and Roman Schmidt (Tampa Bay Lightning) are three Kitchener skaters that are both drafted and signed by their NHL clubs respectively.
Scouting the Attack:
There seems to be a pattern when these teams meet in that Forwards Ethan Burroughs and Deni Goure are on the scoresheet. In the last meeting at The Aud (Feb 25th, 2022), Burroughs and Goure both recorded two points (1G, 1A). They would each replicate that stat line in the season’s first meeting between the two clubs. Players Sam Sedley, Servac Petrovsky (Minnesota Wild) also recording points in both of those matchups.
The Attack have three returning NHL Draftees on the roster this season, all being forwards. Cedrick Guindon (Montreal Canadiens), Kaleb Lawrence (Los Angeles Kings) and Servac Petrovksy (Minnesota Wild).
Rangers partner with Sun Life for Helmet Decal:
The Kitchener Rangers, in partnership with Sun Life, are excited to announce that Kids Help Phone will be the official helmet decal sponsor of the Kitchener Rangers for the 2022-23 season. A partnership that will bring awareness to Kids Help Phone’s services and promote youth mental health.
As part of their renewed strategic partnership with the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club, Sun Life has secured the inaugural helmet branding rights for the Kitchener Rangers as part of a one-year pilot program being introduced by the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In support of Sun Life’s commitment to youth mental health in Canada, they have donated the helmet decal to Kids Help Phone. For more information on the partnership, click here.
