Keegan Rosenberry Collects Spot on Team of the Week Starting XI After Scoring Game-Winning Goal against San Jose

September 15, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS)Colorado Rapids News Release

Major League Soccer announced on Thursday afternoon that Colorado Rapids defender Keegan Rosenberry earned a spot on the Team of the Week back line in its Starting XI formation. The defender sent San Jose back to the Bay Area without a point and with playoff hopes eliminated after scoring the game-winning goal in their matchup on Wednesday night.

Rosenberry’s winning goal came following effort after effort from the Rapids to press the Quakes’ defense in the second half, searching for the chance to finish the game off and continue their playoff push. Rosenberry tried his hand a few times from outside the box throughout the match, but his 77th-minute hit was on target, sailing past JT Marcinkowski’s outstretched hands to claim all three points for Colorado in front of a home crowd.

“With regard to the strike, I keep telling him in training, he’s got to look for a shot because he strikes the ball so well,” said head coach Robin Fraser after the match. “And he’s such a team guy. It’s almost like he doesn’t want to be selfish and shoot so he’s passing, passing, passing and you have this shot, so use it. I thought was a fantastic goal. But it also doesn’t surprise me because I know how he can hit the ball.”

Rosenberry and the rest of the Burgundy Boys will take their talents to Carson, California over the weekend to take on LA Galaxy. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. MT.
