Jets Announce 2022-23 Season Captains
October 26, 2022 – North American Hockey League (NAHL) – Janesville Jets News Release
JANESVILLE, WI – Second-year forward Jimmy Doyle, who joined the Jets at the midway point of the season last year, will serve as the captain for the Jets in the 2022-23 season.
Forward Mack Keryluk, who is in his third season, will join second-year forward Ethan Begg as alternate captains alongside Doyle.
Jimmy Doyle – Captain
Entering his final year in the NAHL, forward Jimmy Doyle was tasked as being the leader of the young Jets group by head coach Joe Dibble for this season. After joining the roster late last year, Doyle played 30 games and notched 16 points in his first year as a Jet. Now in his second year in the ‘Ville, Doyle has owned his role as a seasoned veteran and leader on the ice and off it. He’s scored eight goals with three assists in 15 games played this year, and has already surpassed his shot total of 47 from last year in half the time (60 in 15 games this year).

Mack Keryluk – Alternate Captain
A Verona, Wisconsin native, Mack Keryluk enters his last season in the NAHL and will get to do it with an A on his chest. After starting with the Jamestown Rebels in the NAHL, Keryluk then came to his home state and joined the Jets in the 2020-21 season. In his first year in Janesville, “Macker” skated in 17 games and recorded 7 points. The following year was a great one for Keryluk. He played in 49 games and scored 19 goals with five assists. Those numbers become even more impressive when you factor the majority of those goals came when Keryluk was skating on the third and fourth line. While the veteran hasn’t yet found twine this season, he has six helpers to his name, and it’s only a matter of time before he taps into the play-making abilities we’ve seen on display in years past.

Ethan Begg – Alternate Captain
Rounding out the Jets’ leadership group is second-year forward Ethan Begg. The Coloradan is coming off an impressive rookie season in Janesville that saw him play in all but one game (59) and score 13 goals and 16 assists. He was a +17 on the year and recorded 99 shots on goal in what was a highly-skilled offensive group last season. Now in year two and a part of the leadership group, “Begger” will look to build off that productive first year in the NAHL and act as a guiding hand along the way, as well. The University of Vermont commit joined Janesville in the midst of their home opener against Kenai River, and has since recorded two assists in nine games. Like Keryluk, Begg is a strong skater and resilient on the puck, and will look to tap into the strong scoring force he was as a rookie.

The Jets have one more series in Alaska on deck, a three-game series against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs that starts Thursday night before returning to the Lower 48 for a road trip to Springfield against the Jr. Blues.
