James Callahan Named Jr. Blues Captain
September 7, 2022 – North American Hockey League (NAHL) – Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that we have named veteran blueliner James Callahan as our Captain for the upcoming 2022-23 season!
Callahan, a native of Minneapolis, MN, is entering his second season of junior hockey and his second year in Springfield. As a rookie last season James tallied 7 goals and 16 assists in 59 games while also being named to the Midwest Division Team at the 2022 NAHL Top Prospect Tournament in Pittsburgh.
“James is a tremendous young man who puts in the work on and off the ice, and has set an example for what we expect for our younger players,” said Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “We’re looking forward to seeing how he is able to grow as a leader, teammate, and player this season in this role.”
The Jr. Blues have long fostered a tradition of leadership, character, and integrity among our players and that’s evident in the young men who have been selected as Captains, most recently with Joey Dosan, Cade Groton, Fletcher Fineman, and Matt Long. Their commitment to bettering themselves and their teammates, both on and off the ice, has set the bar when it comes to expectations for future Captains.
