Jacob Holmes Named Wolves Captain

(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that they have named Dallas Stars
prospect Jacob Holmes as the team’s captain for the Wolves’ 50th anniversary season and will be joined
by Assistant Captains Ethan Larmand, David Goyette, Nolan Collins, and Quentin Musty.
“We are really happy to name Jacob Holmes as our captain in this special 50th season of Wolves hockey
in the OHL,” said Sudbury Wolves VP and General Manager, Rob Papineau. “He embodies what it means
to be a leader and a captain and is a true professional gentleman of character. We acquired Jacob last
January in a trade that moved our former captain to the Soo and he has been nothing short of
impressive everyday. We are really fortunate to have a room full of high character players to support
Jacob with the leadership and we expect everyone to be a great teammate and leader for our hockey
club. The Assistant Captains David Goyette, Ethan Larmand, Nolan Collins and Quentin Musty are all
quality people and players who have experience and will be a big part of our overall success.”
“It’s a huge honour,” said Holmes. “Being named captain of a team with a lot of tradition and success in
the past is something I’m very proud and humbled about, especially as the team embarks on it’s 50th
season. We have a great group of guys this year and have the chance at being very successful.”
Jacob was selected by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the 1st round, 18th overall in the 2019 OHL
Priority Selection before being traded to the Sudbury Wolves last January at the trade deadline. In 33
games with the Wolves last season, Holmes had 7 goals and 13 assists. He was also selected by the
Dallas Stars in the 5th round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Ethan enters in his third season with the Sudbury Wolves. He was selected in the second round, 26th
overall in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection. From Midland ON., Ethan has played in 107 games with the
Wolves, and he also served as an assistant captain for the team during the 2021-22 season. That season
he was then named to the Wolves’ Joe Drago Players’ Player Award.
David is in his second year with the Sudbury Wolves. He was selected 11th overall in the 2020 OHL
Priority Selection. During his 2021-22 campaign David played 66 games where he scored 33 goals and 40
assists. In the 2022 NHL Draft David was selected in the second round, 61st overall by the Seattle
Kraken.
Nolan is in his second year with the Sudbury Wolves. He was selected 88th overall in the 2020 OHL
Priority Selection. Following the Wolves 2021-22 season Nolan was recognized and awarded as the
Wolves’ Best Defensive Player. During the 2022 NHL Draft Nolan was selected in the sixth round, 167th
overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Quentin is in his second year with the Sudbury Wolves. Quentin was awarded with the OHL’s Jack
Ferguson award as the 1st overall selection in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. In his rookie season in the
OHL, the Hamburg, NY native scored 31 points (12G, 19A) and he was voted to the OHL second All-
Rookie team. Quentin is a highly rated player heading into the 2023 NHL Draft.
The Wolves are on the road this weekend as they head south to visit the Windsor Spitfires on Thursday
at 7:05pm, Flint Firebirds on Saturday at 7:00pm and Saginaw Spirit on Sunday at 5:30pm. Fans can

The Wolves will return to action at home on Friday October 14th when the team returns to the confines
