Inter Miami CF Performance Director Dawn Scott to Depart Club for New Opportunities
November 1, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF announced today that Performance Director Dawn Scott will depart the Club to return to women’s football and take on a new role as the Senior Director of Performance, Medical and Innovation of the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League.
“Inter Miami CF would like to thank Dawn for her exceptional work, professionalism and commitment during her time with the Club. We fully support Dawn and wish her nothing but the best as she follows her desire to return to women’s soccer,” said Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson.
“When Inter Miami CF recruited Dawn, the Club wanted to be a fitter, faster and stronger team, and Dawn laid the foundation with her outstanding work to allow us to achieve exactly that. The durability of the team, which allowed us to fight and score until the last second of many matches, had to do in large part to the culture of physical performance that Dawn set. Now, I know how passionate she is for women’s football and we will not get in the way of her dreams and wish her all the best,” said Inter Miami CF head coach Phil Neville.
“This was the hardest decision of my career to date. I have loved every minute at this special Club and am thankful to Chris Henderson and Phil Neville for the opportunity to be part of the Inter Miami CF journey. The players are a unique group and have been brilliant to work with, I will miss them and the staff here a lot. Women’s soccer is in my DNA, has been my focus for over 20 years and is where I want to be. I am honored to have been a part of La Familia and will continue to be the Club’s biggest supporter from afar. Vamos, Miami!,” said Scott.
Scott joined Inter Miami CF ahead of the 2022 preseason and added significant experience to the Inter Miami staff, having worked for the U.S. Women’s National Team, where she reached three FIFA World Cup finals and won two of them, the England Women’s National Team – where she worked alongside Neville – FIFA and UEFA. Dawn oversaw the Performance Department for the First Team, Inter Miami CF II and the Inter Miami CF Academy. Most notably, the First Team reached the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs, in part due to crucial points earned late in games, resulting in winning or drawing 10 matches.
Inter Miami CF would like to thank Scott for her contributions to the Club and wishes her the best with the Washington Spirit.
