September 2, 2022 – MLS NEXT Pro (MLS NEXT Pro)Inter Miami CF II News Release

Inter Miami CF II (9W-4D-7L, 32 points) will host Toronto FC II (10W-3D-7L, 35 points) at DRV PNK Stadium in another pivotal match in the Eastern Conference playoff race on Saturday night. The match, the first of two over the next two weeks between the teams, will kick off at 7 p.m. ET and be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com. Tickets for the match are available HERE.

“We just want to make sure we’re focused on playing to the final whistle, and improving game by game. If we show that over the next couple of weeks we’ll be in a really strong position,” said head coach Darren Powell. “We have to make sure we’re ready and we’ll look to show improvement from the first game against Toronto to the second.”

With just four matches remaining in the regular season, Inter Miami II enters Saturday night’s match just below the playoff line, one point back of Rochester New York FC and two points back of Philadelphia Union II with a game in hand on both opponents.

In the team’s last match, Inter Miami II earned a crucial 2-1 win over Rochester at DRV PNK Stadium. The team was led to victory on the night by goals from First Team loanee George Acosta, and leading scorer Shanyder Borgelin, while Romeo Beckham added to his league-leading assist tally. Borgelin, whose 12 goals on the season are good for fifth in the league, will enter Saturday’s match on a run of nine goals in his last nine matches.

Toronto FC II, meanwhile, will enter Saturday’s match following a 2-1 road loss to Chicago Fire FC II. So far in 2022, the team has been led by midfielder Paul Rothrock, who has tallied team highs in goals and assists with six and five respectively.
