Hoffrogge, Rymon Net First Goals as Tips Roll to 6-4 Win

October 9, 2022 – Western Hockey League (WHL)Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips earned a hard-fought 6-4 victory over the Prince George Cougars Saturday night at Angel of the Winds Arena, spurred on by two milestone goals and 55 shots on net.

Jacob Hoffrogge opened the scoring just :54 into play, wiring a low wrist shot past Ty Young for his first career Western Hockey League goal in his 70th career game. Dominik Rymon contributed his first career WHL goal at 15:52 in the first, a powerplay goal.

Ben Hemmerling re-directed a Dexter Whittle shot from the blueline for the Tips’ third goal of the game, Hemmerling’s second of the campaign.

Prince George would rally, however. Given a 5-on-3 powerplay in the second, Chase Wheatcroft tallied at 12:09 shortly followed by Koehn Ziemmer at 13:11 to bring the Cougars within one. Caden Brown potted a shorthanded breakaway goal at 16:21 to knot the score. Everett would re-claim the lead less than a minute later, as Rymon netted his second of the game, once more on the powerplay.

Austin Roest contributed his fourth goal of the season at 17:58 in the second, snapping a rising shot over the shoulder of Young.

Though Riley Heidt would tally in the third period for Prince George, Jackson Berezowski sealed the deal with an empty-net goal, his fifth of the year. Berezowski is now even with Zach Hamill for seventh all-time on the Silvertips’ all-time goal scoring list with 87 career goals.

Braden Holt stopped 30 of 34 to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Everett will host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday night. Tickets are available.
