Head Coach Billy Back Signs 2-Year Contract Extension
October 18, 2022 – Indoor Football League (IFL) – Frisco Fighters News Release
FRISCO, Texas – The Frisco Fighters announced today that the team has signed head coach Billy Back to a two-year contract extension. The contract will run through the 2024 season.
In his inaugural season with the Fighters, Back recorded a 15-3 record and guided the team to the Eastern Conference Finals where the team fell short in a devastating last second loss to the Quad City Steamwheelers. Under Back’s guidance, the Fighters produced the most All-IFL players amongst the league, including RB Justin Rankin, WR Jerminic Smith, Center JR Hensley, OL Darius James, DL Charles Williams, DL Zaycoven Henderson, DB Trey Wafford, DB Santos Ramirez, and DB Cedric Poole.
“I’m fortunate and excited for this extension” said Back. “My family and I experienced some great things this past season that we’ve never experienced before in this business. It was something that I deeply wanted to be a part of again. The Germain family not only are great businesspeople, but they are also a football family that understands this game. I’m anxious to get started again, capitalize off last season’s success and get Fighter nation where we need to be!”
Back proved to be dynamic on both sides of the ball. Frisco’s offense ranked second in regular season touchdowns and average points per game, while the defense finished fifth overall in points allowed per game. The Fighters also led the IFL in rushing yards on both offense and defense.
The veteran coach owns an overall record of 127-47 in 11 seasons and is a five-time indoor football champion as a head coach.
The Frisco Fighters return to the field next spring for the 2023 season. Tickets will be on sale at a later date.
