Giants Sign 2007-Born Goaltender Burke Hood
September 9, 2022 – Western Hockey League (WHL) – Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C. – General Manager Barclay Parneta announced today that the team has signed 2007-born goaltender Burke Hood (Brandon, MB) to a Standard WHL Player Agreement.
Burke Hood (6’1′, 164-pounds) was selected by the Giants in Round 6 of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. Hood was the highest selected Manitoban goaltender in the 2022 draft. He played last season with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg U-15 Prep, where he posted a 9-4-1 record and a 2.62 GAA.
Hood is coming off of an impressive showing at Training Camp, where he helped backstop Team Byram to a 2-1-1 record in the scrimmages, and made 21 saves on 24 shots in the Quinn/Howe Legends Cup Game on Sunday.
“Burke established himself early in our camp, he plays with a lot of confidence and never gives up on the puck” said Barclay Parneta. “We’re excited to welcome Burke and his family to the Vancouver Giants organization.”
The G-Men will take the ice for preseason action twice this weekend. Tonight on Friday, September 9th at Jon Baillie Arena (Port Coquitlam) is the first tune-up against the Prince George Cougars. The game is already sold out and begins at 7:00PM. Then on Sunday, September 11th, the Giants face the rival Victoria Royals at the Langley Events Centre. Tickets will be available at the door prior to the 4:00 PM puck drop.
