LINCOLN (3-1)

The Stars picked up a resounding 6-1 victory over the Omaha Lancers last Saturday in their lone game of the weekend. Lincoln scored two power play goals in the first period before striking four times in a five-minute span of the second period. Five different players found the back of the net and Keaton Peters scored twice.

Through 240 minutes of hockey the Stars have only trailed for 48:17, with all of that time coming during their lone loss, a 3-2 defeat to Sioux Falls on Sep. 30. A big reason why the Stars have hardly trailed is because they have scored first in all but one game.

TRI-CITY (3-1)

The Storm are in a three-way tie with the Stars and the Sioux Falls Stampede for first place in the Western Conference early in the 2022-23 season. Tri-City swept their Fall Classic games with a 4-1 win over Madison followed by a 6-4 win over Muskegon. The Storm spoiled Omaha’s home opener with a 4-3 shootout victory last Friday.

Kieran Cebrian leads the way offensively with three goals and four assists. He is three points away from matching his total in 42 games with the Storm a season ago and is tied for fourth in the USHL in points.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

PPG=WIN: The Stars’ power play is the second-best in the USHL, scoring on 27.8-percent of chances. They have won all three games that they have scored at least one power-play goal in, including scoring twice on Sep. 23 vs Green Bay and Oct. 8 vs Omaha.

Point Per Game Marcellus: Newly-elected Stars captain Mason Marcellus is off to a hot start, recording at least one point in every game. He leads the Stars with seven points and has three assists in his last two games. Marcellus is looking for his first goal in a home game after tallying twice at the Fall Classic.
