Game Preview: Prince George Cougars at Kamloops Blazers (Game #10)

Tonight, at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, the Prince George Cougars do battle with the Kamloops Blazers for the first time this season. The Cougars snapped their three game losing streak last night with a 5-1 victory over the Vancouver Giants in Langley. Ethan Samson led the way offensively for the visitors, while Koehn Ziemmer, Chase Wheatcroft, and Carlin Dezainde all added singles. Tyler Brennan got the win in goal making 21 saves on 22 Vancouver shots.

REACHING BIG HEIDTS: Cougars alternate captain and forward Riley Heidt is coming off a big night for the Cougars in the 5-1 victory over Vancouver last night at the Langley Events Centre. The Saskatoon, SK product had two pretty assists to help his club to a win last night. In nine games played, Heidt has collected four goals, along with six helpers. Heidt is just shy of 100 games played in the WHL, currently sitting at 96, and has added 27 goals and 49 assists in that span.

THE CAPTAIN: Logan Stankoven has returned from the Dallas Stars camp and pre-season, and to nobody’s surprise, has had a terrific start to his 19-year-old season with the Blazers. The recently appointed captain has played four games, and already has collected nine points in those games (3G-6A). In 136 games played in the WHL, the Kamloops product has amassed 172 points in (84G-88A).
