LAST GAME: 4-3 OTL at Portland Winterhawks: For the first time in four seasons, the Medicine Hat Tigers made their way to Portland for a showdown with the Winterhawks. Portland would strike in the first twice thanks to goals from James Stefan & Luca Cagnoni before Tomas Mrsic would score his 1st of the season for Medicine Hat in the second to make the game tight at 2-1, Jake Zakreski would give the Winterhawks a 3-1 lead heading into the third. Cue the comeback tally by the Tigers, Alex Drover with 2:36 left in regulation would make it just a 3-2 deficit before Dallon Melin redirected a Brenden Lee blast with the extra attacker to make it a 3-3 draw heading to overtime. Overtime went back and fourth but it would Kyle Chyzowski icing it on a breakaway to keep Portland undefeated on the season. Beckett Langkow was the Tiger’s Player of the game stopping 37 of 40 Portland shots in the loss.


VS THE THUNDERBIRDS: Like the last meetings between all teams in the US Division, the Tigers haven’t played Seattle since January 4th , 2019 in a 8-5 victory at home against Seattle. The last time the Tigers made their way to Kent for a tilt with the Thunderbirds was February 9th, 2019 with Seattle needing overtime to beat the Tigers 4-3. Only Seattle’s Jared Davidson remains the last time these two met in a WHL game pitted against one another. The Overall Record for the Tigers against the Winterhawks going back to the 1996-97 season is 28 games played, 12 wins, 12 losses and four overtime losses.

Thru 5: The Medicine Hat Tigers are sporting a 2-2-1record in the 2022-23 WHL Season so far after winning their season opener against Lethbridge, the Tigers have lost two straight to Lethbridge (5-4 Sept 30) & Winnipeg (5-2 Oct 1). This is the Tigers first US road trip since February 2019. They snapped their two game losing skid with a 6-3 win in Everett (Oct 7) but fell 4-3 in overtime on Saturday in Portland

New Blood: The Tigers will have one of their newest prospects on the road trip for the next 10 days, Defenceman Matthew Paranych who was drafted in the 3rd Round of this year Prospects Draft has been playing with the SAHA Academy in Medicine Hat.

Calgary Cowboys: The line of Andrew Basha, Oasiz Wiesblatt & Owen MacNeil are off to a great start in the Tigers season. Responsible for 8 of the Tigers first 25 goals scored this year.

Behind the Bench: This is Tigers Head Coach Willie Desjardins’ 11th season coaching the Tigers in two different tenures and is just 9 wins away from 400 while coaching the Orange & Black
