Friesen Tallies Winner in ICE Showcase Game
September 5, 2022 – Western Hockey League (WHL) – Winnipeg Ice News Release
18 year old Evan Friesen scored the game winning goal with 3:15 remaining in the third period to give Team Dark a 5-3 victory over Team Light in the annual Winnipeg ICE Showcase Game to wrap up ICE Training Camp presented by Body Movement.
Mikey Milne, Alessandro Segafredo, Ty Fraser and Skyler Bruce also scored as Team Dark did all of their damage in the final frame.
Connor McClennon opened the scoring in the first period for Team Light while Owen Pederson expanded the lead to 2-0 in the middle frame. Daniel Morozov had their lone goal in the third.
Dawson Cowan earned the win in net for Team Dark making 11 of 12 saves while Noah Stenvig stopped 7 of 9.
Keegan Maddocks played the entire game for Team Light and made 51 of 55 saves.
The ICE now prepare for back to back WHL preseason games against the Brandon Wheat Kings starting Friday night at Westoba Place.
The two teams return to The RINK Training Centre for a 7:00 face off Saturday night. Tickets are available.
