Forward Madison Draws in Greenville

Forward Madison FC played its second consecutive road match as they took on Greenville Triumph SC in Greenville, South Carolina at Triumph Stadium at Legacy Early College. The match kicked off at 6:00 pm CT.
The opening half of Saturday’s match began with the Mingos’ going down early with a 17th minute goal scored by Nico Brown. Brown was able to dribble past one defender and lace a ball that curled just over the outstretched arms of Forward Madison Goalie Raiko Arozarena. The Mingos’ quickly equalized in the 22nd minute of play, when a cross from Forward Madison’s Matheus Cassini was weighted to a leaping Nazeem Bartman, who headed the ball into the back of the net. The Mingos’ didn’t let up, as a few more chances came before entering the half tied at 1-1.
The second half began with both teams trying to establish possession. Few chances came until the Triumph broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, when Jacob Labovitz played a square pass to the joining Gavilanes, who tapped the ball into the back of the net. In the 72nd minute, three attacking substitutions came on for the Mingos, which saw the return of Drew Conner to the field from his stint away. The Triumph, after converting their chance continued to push, controlled a majority of possession after the goal. In the 85th minute the Mingos began to control possession, with a few chances coming from it. The Mingos equalized late with a splitting pass from Mikey Maldonado that found the foot of Jeremiah Streng, who scored from the top of the 18 yard box. The final whistle blew shortly after and FMFC came out of Greenville with a point.
Next up on the USL League One schedule, the Flamingos return to Breese Stevens Field on Saturday, September 10th for a match against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at 7:00 pm CT. The Triumph head on the road to face the Charlotte Independence, Friday, September 9th.
