October 26, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Colorado Rapids News Release
Eight Rapids Academy players will have the opportunity to impress at the national level in a U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center hosted at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday, October 26.
U-15 Academy players Diego Amrix, Jonathan De La Fuente, Edgar Heredia, Alexander Hernandez, Kelle Lowery, Noe Sarmiento, Kamal Sawadogo and Dashiel Williams will participate in a single-day camp for top talents, helping to aid in the identification of prospects for future National Team call ups. Additional youth athletes from New Mexico Soccer Academy, Pride Soccer Club, Real Colorado, CASA FC and Rapids affiliate Rio Rapids SC will join the Rapids for the first ID camp since COVID-19 restrictions.
“We are excited to host the USSF Talent ID Center here at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park,” said Chris Cartlidge, Academy Technical Director. “It is great to see our 2009 Rapids Academy team so well represented in the list of players selected for the event. For the eight Rapids Academy players selected, this is their first exposure to the USSF Youth National Team identification process. We are also excited to see four players from our affiliate Rio Rapids SC (Albuquerque, New Mexico) invited to attend the talent ID event.”
The Rapids Academy has seen recent success with multiple call ups into National Team environments. In 2022, three Rapids Academy players were called into U.S. National Team camps, including Cristopher Madera Acotsa, Adam Beaudry and Tadeo Razo Sanchez. In addition, Rapids Academy goalkeeper Leonardo Medina was called into Mexico’s U-16 Men’s Youth National Team training camp. Most notably, goalkeeper Beaudry earned a call up to the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team, making his official debut on September 25 against the Czech Republic.
