Eight CF Montréal Players Called up for Canadian National Team Training Camp
November 2, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL – Defenders Zachary Brault-Guillard, Alistair Johnston, Kamal Miller and Joel Waterman, midfielders Mathieu Choinière, Ismaël Koné and Samuel Piette, as well as goalkeeper James Pantemis, have been selected by the Canadian men’s national team to take part in an upcoming training camp, from November 6 to 11, ahead of the final roster that will represent the nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup starting November 20 in Qatar.
Ahead of its World Cup campaign, Canada will face Bahrain on Friday, November 11, in an international friendly at Al-Khalifa Stadium in Manama.
Johnston, Miller, Waterman, Piette and Koné were all called up during the team’s last camp in September, when Canada played two friendlies in Europe against Qatar (2-0) and Uruguay (0-2).
Brault-Guillard and Pantemis return to the national team for the first time since the final round of Concacaf World Cup qualifying. Brault-Guillard last appeared as a substitute on February 2 against El Salvador, while Pantemis was an unused substitute in the first eight matches of the octagonal round.
This also marks a first senior national team camp participation for Choinière. In 2020, the midfielder was named to the Canadian U23 provisional roster for the Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.
Canada’s final World Cup roster will be unveiled by Canada Soccer at a later date.
