Eerie Winner Beats IceDogs
September 10, 2022 – Ontario Hockey League (OHL) – Niagara IceDogs News Release
Despite the protests of goaltender Josh Rosenzweig that he was interfered with, a scramble goal with a 11.4 seconds left gave the visiting Erie Otters a 4-3 Saturday night preseason win.
That goal spoiled another great performance from Matthew Papais, who counted his fourth and league leading fifth goals of the exhibition season. Nolan Dann added the other marker, his first in an IceDogs uniform. The IceDogs twice tied the game, before taking a 3-2 lead into the third period. Brenden Sirizzotti also chipped in with two assists on both Papais goals.
Niagara now holds a 2-2 record in preseason play. It’s a nine day preseason game break as NHL training camps take over starting Monday. The next action for the IceDogs will be Tuesday September 20th in Ancaster against the Hamilton Bulldogs followed by another game at the Meridian Centre September 22nd.
