Crusberg-Roseen Commits to Western Michigan

September 28, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL) – Lincoln Stars News Release
Stars defenseman Cole Crusberg-Roseen has announced his commitment to Western Michigan University, an NCAA Division I program in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Crusberg-Roseen is in his first year with the Stars and is a +2 after two games at last week’s Dick’s Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic. He scored once in the preseason and saw time on the second power play unit in the first two regular-season games.
Western Michigan is coming off a historic season in which it picked up its most wins since the 1996-97 season, made its first trip to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff Finals and earned the first NCAA Tournament win in program history.
Broncos head coach Pat Ferschweiler also set a Western Michigan first-year coach record with 26 wins. The Broncos coaching staff stood apart to Crusberg-Roseen and affirmed his decision to commit there.
“It was a pretty easy decision,” Crusberg-Roseen said. “The coaching staff there is unbelievable. I spoke with assistant coach Jason Herter and immediately I could tell how much knowledge he has and how he can improve my game. The campus, rink and fans are unbelievable. It was a dream come true, honestly.”
The Stratham, N.H. native recorded 20 goals and 15 assists in 60 games for the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League last year and added three goals and three assists in the Robertson Cup Playoffs.
The Stars selected Crusberg-Roseen in the third round of 2022 USHL Phase II Draft and he has impressed the coaching staff in his brief time in Lincoln.
“We had big holes to fill on our end with a lot of defensemen moving on to college” Stars head coach Rocky Russo said. “We were excited about Cole’s offensive upside and what he brought to our team as a veteran junior player. He has exceeded those expectations right off the hop.”
Crusberg-Roseen and the Stars open up the 2022-23 home schedule this Friday as they face the Sioux Falls Stampede at 7:05 p.m. at the Ice Box. Tickets are available now at lincolnstars.com.
