Consent Awareness Workshops to Begin Tonight
October 17, 2022 – Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
Montreal, QC – As previously announced on September 22, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will begin its consent and sexual misconduct awareness workshops Monday, October 17. Players, coaches and staff members will have the opportunity to take part in discussions with Léa Clermont-Dion after viewing her documentary “T’as juste à porter plainte”.
Léa Clermont-Dion is a producer, documentarian, author and political scientist. She published a thesis on the radicalization of antifeminist actors on social media and is also part of the “Preventing violent extremism” UNESCO Chair. Clermont-Dion also produced many documentaries on social issues, including one about the legal process that victims of sexual assault have to go through.
The workshops’ objective is to raise awareness and educate individuals on the importance of respect in relationships. There will be discussions around concepts such as sexual assault and consent. Many test cases will be presented to participants so that they can better understand real life situations. Sexual violence and the risks related to social media will also be underlined in the workshops.
The QMJHL is proud to announce a new partnership with Mondo, who will act as the presenting sponsor of this initiative. The company is the leading manufacturer and supplier of rubber flooring for a variety of different sports and facilities.
