CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC today announced that forward Jhon Durán and defender Carlos Terán have been called to the Colombia National Team for a domestic training camp from Oct. 18-20 in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Durán recently made his Colombia National Team debut, replacing Radamel Falcao at halftime of the 4-1 win against Guatemala on Sept. 24 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. He also featured in stoppage time of the 3-2 win against Mexico on Sept. 27 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
During his first season in Major League Soccer, Durán made 27 appearances for the Chicago Fire (14 starts), scoring a team-leading eight goals and registering three assists. The striker from Medellín, Colombia, was named to the MLS Team of the Week in Week 33 of the regular season after scoring two second-half goals against FC Cincinnati on Oct. 1. Terán was called to the senior Colombia National Team by head coach Néstor Lorenzo for the first time after having represented Colombia at the U-20 and U-23 levels. In 2019, Terán was named to Colombia’s final roster for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. The defender made an appearance in the group stage, featuring in the 2-0 win against Poland on May 23, 2019. Additionally, he recorded two appearances for the Colombia U-23 team in the 2020 CONMEBOL Olympic qualifying tournament, starting against Argentina on Jan. 19 and playing the full 90 minutes against Uruguay on Feb. 10.
Terán, who hails from Turbo, Colombia, made a career-high 22 appearances (19 starts) for the Chicago Fire in 2022. During his three seasons with the Club, he has scored two career goals as a defender for Chicago and was most recently named Heineken Man of the Match for his performance in the 1-1 tie with the New England Revolution on Oct. 9 in which his long throw-in led to the game-tying goal in the 90+2nd minute of the match.
