Charlotte Independence Welcome Ulises Vega as Graphic Designer for Creative Services

October 11, 2022 – United Soccer League One (USL1)Charlotte Independence News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Independence today announced that Ulises Vega has joined the front office staff as Graphic Designer for Creative Services. Vega is a self-taught graphic designer who was awarded the North Carolina Adult Soccer Association Media Award in 2021.

When asked about his excitement for joining the Charlotte Independence, Vega explained, “I’m not sure where to start! The people that know me closely always knew one of my dreams was to work for a professional soccer club in graphic design. It still hasn’t hit me that I’m now accomplishing one of my dreams.”

Vega graduated in 2017 from Spring Creek High School in Seven Springs, N.C. He first started graphic design in February of 2021 while running the social media accounts for his local hometown team, Goldsboro Strike Eagles Football Club.

“I came into this field with the intention of having fun and learning something new,” stated Vega. “But then I realized this was the career I wanted to pursue. I took advantage of every opportunity that came my way, and I tried to learn the most I could to further my journey.”

After two months with Goldsboro Strike Eagles Football Club, he was then asked to take over the social media and graphic design for the cities’ amateur soccer league. The First Flight League is a state-wide adult developmental league that is vastly growing amateur soccer in North Carolina.

“I am beyond thankful to be given the opportunity to start a career in graphic design and what better way to start than with this amazing organization. I want to thank the club and their supporters groups, Mecklenburg Reserves, Independence Ultras and Blue Furia, for welcoming me. I am happy to call Charlotte Independence my new home. ¡Vamos! We are Charlotte!”

In 2021, Vega also managed social media for the North Carolina Adult Soccer Association Carolinas Cup.

“We’re excited to bring Ulises to Charlotte and our organization,” stated Charlotte Independence President and COO, Tim Schuldt. “He’s uniquely talented, and we believe his creativity will continue to help us build our fan base at the best soccer stadium in Charlotte!”
