Cats Look to Sink the Armada on Sunday Funday

Cats Look to Sink the Armada on Sunday Funday

November 5, 2022 – Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)Moncton Wildcats News Release

The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada – featuring Moncton native and former Wildcat G Nick Sheehan – make their only port of call in Moncton on Sunday. Be sure to get there early, as the first 800 fans will receive a pack of Tim Hortons NHL hockey cards.

It’s also another Sunday Funday for the kids, featuring bouncy castles and face-painting. Check out the PAL Airlines Family 4-Pack to save on a great afternoon outing. When you purchase a Family 4-Pack, you will be entered into a draw to win round-trip airfare for 4 anywhere PAL Airlines flies!

Like the Wildcats, the Armada have dropped their last 2 games. They currently sit in 11th place with 7 wins & 8 losses. Up front BLB are led by 2020 QMJHL 1st rounder Jonathan Fauchon (15GP, 9G, 11A) and 2022 Flyers 7th round pick Alexis Gendron (13GP, 12G, 6A). In the crease, Charles-Edward Gravel has carried most of the load but Sheehan has picked up a couple of wins when called upon, and could get the nod Sunday in his hometown.

The dynamic duo of Yoan Loshing & Vincent Labelle have combined on 7 of the last 9 Wildcats goals. Add the powerplay patience of veteran Charles Beaudoin, net-front presence of big Max Barbashev and high-end skill of defenseman Etienne Morin to the mix and you see the foundation of the Cats early-season success.

The goaltending tandem of Filion & Steinman has been more than solid, but the Wildcats have lacked depth scoring in recent games – leaning heavily on the 1st line and powerplay unit – and it has caught up with them. Their 2 recent 1-goal losses could have had different outcomes with a more balanced offensive attack. Scoring by committee was the key to the recent streak and when that returns, no doubt the W’s will pile up once again!
