Capitols on the Road for Two Stand Alone Games

Capitols on the Road for Two Stand Alone Games

November 4, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL)Madison Capitols News Release

The Capitols hit the road this weekend looking to bounce back from last weekend’s losses to Muskegon. Madison enters the weekend with a record of 4-5-0 and in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Although the team has played less games than half of the conference, the team has an opportunity to capture points against division rivals Dubuque and Chicago and climb up the standings.

Friday night, the team hits the road to Dubuque for the Fighting Saints’ home opener. In the one matchup against Dubuque this season at the end of September, the Capitols came away with a 5-3 win. Madison scored four-unanswered to start the game, which Dubuque was never able to battle back from. Dubuque currently sits with eight games played, tied for the lowest in the conference, and a record of 4-3-1. They sit one point and place ahead of Madison in the Eastern Conference standings. This will be the second of six matchups between the two sides this season.

Following the game on Friday, the Capitols are once again on the road, this time heading east to Chicago. In the first matchup of the season, Madison dug themselves into a 4-0 hole after the second period. The Capitols scored four in the third period, but it was not enough with Chicago coming away with a 6-4 win. Since then, Chicago has continued their winning ways coming into the weekend with a record of 7-4-0, tied for first place in the east with 14 points. The Steel face the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday night, so the game will be the backend of a two-game series for both squads.

While playing away from home is not the most ideal situation, the Capitols are 2-0-0 on the season in true road games. The team swept Youngstown at the Covelli Centre in mid-October and have not been on the road since.

Coverage for both of the games this weekend can be found on FloHockey, as well as updates being posted on our social media pages. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm in both Dubuque on Friday and Chicago on Saturday.
