Capitols Host Dubuque for Home Opener

Capitols Host Dubuque for Home Opener

September 30, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL)Madison Capitols News Release

After starting the season last week in Pittsburgh, the Capitols return home on Friday to face off against Dubuque. This marks the first of thirty home games at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena for the Capitols. It’s not only the first home game of the season for the Capitols, but the game also marks the first $1 Beer Night of the season.

This will be the first time since the Clark Cup Final in May that the Caps play a game at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena. The team will honor the 2021-22 Eastern Conference Champions with a banner raising ceremony pregame.

When asked about the banner raising ceremony, Capitols Head Coach & GM Corey Leivermann said:

“I think it’s a special moment for our organization. It’s something that has never been done for us and something that we should really cherish. Then, when that puck drops, it’s another game and a new opportunity for us. Enjoy it and for the new guys know it’s something that can be attained, but ultimately at the end of the day, it’s another game and chance for us to win our first hockey game.”

Once the puck is dropped, the Capitols look to bounce back from a 0-2-0-0 start to the regular season. The team hosts the 1-1-0-0 Dubuque Fighting Saints. Leivermann attested to skill of the Caps’ Friday night opponent by saying:

“I think it will be a very good chess match for us to see where we fall against some of the top teams in the east. Dubuque is always going to be good and same with Chicago, so for us, it’s going to be a good test to see how we bounce back from our Pittsburgh showcase and play a rival in Dubuque.”

Join us at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena for the historic night! Tickets can be found at tickets.madcapshockey.com. Puck drop for the stand-alone game on Friday is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
