Brian Iloski Scores for the Second Straight Match, as OCSC Draws with Memphis

September 4, 2022 – United Soccer League Championship (USL)Orange County SC News Release

Orange County SC played to a 1-1 draw with Memphis 901 FC behind a Brian Iloski goal at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine, CA on Saturday, September 3 on Heroes Night, presented by CalSouth.

As a part of a partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving California, every OCSC player wore black “MADD” armbands as a part of their match kits. The players and coaching staff also each had a “Soccer For Hope” shirt in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The Orange County defense had their hands full as Memphis controlled the majority of play in the opening fifteen minutes. Memphis forward Phillip Goodrum had the best chance with a free header in the seventh minute, but could not hit the target.

As OCSC settled into the match, they began to create chances of their own. In the 30th minute, forward Milan Iloski played a ball over the top of the Memphis defense that fell for his brother, midfielder Brian Iloski, who unleashed a left-footed strike on the half-volley that was saved by Memphis keeper Trey Muse.

Goalkeeper Patrick Rakovsky had a great save of his own in the 40th minute when he stopped a half-vollied effort from Goodrum just inside the 18-yard box.

The Iloski brothers linked up again in the 43rd minute, when Milan played another ball over the top of the Memphis defense that was headed down by Brian. Brian then dribbled into the box, cut back on to his left foot and beat Muse near post to give the hosts the lead, 1-0. It is his second goal of the season.

After halftime, Brian nearly added another goal for OCSC. He saw his right-footed effort from just inside the box pushed over the bar by Muse in the 53rd minute.

Just as it seemed like OCSC would earn all three points from the match, Memphis midfielder Jeremy Kelly brought the visitors level 1-1 in the 85th minute. Kelly’s left-footed volley from in close beat Rakovsky and found the bottom right corner.

OCSC nearly found a winner in the 89th minute off a Seth Casiple corner, as defender Daniel A. Pedersen’s header hit the post and midfielder Dillon Powers saw his rebound chance sail high over the bar.

Orange County SC will take the field again September 10th in the latest edition of the 405 Derby against LA Galaxy II at our home, Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. Join us for our final beer fest of the season! Tickets can be purchased here.
