Brahmas Comeback Effort Wins Home Opener

September 26, 2022 – North American Hockey League (NAHL)Lone Star Brahmas News Release

North Richland Hills, TX – The Lone Star Brahmas opened the home slate in style with a come-from-behind third period victory in front of a sellout crowd at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

Defenseman Bauer Swift scored two goals in the third period, both on the power play, to lift Lone Star past Oklahoma to claim the 2-1 win.

The Brahmas got off to a feisty start as veteran forward Mason Mara dropped the gloves in the opening frame. After a scoreless first period, the Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the second on a goal by Kaden Nelson.

Trailing 1-0, the Brahmas went on the power play in the third period. Matt MacDonald fed the puck to Johan Rosenquist who found Swift all alone at the top of the right circle. Swift rifled the shot off the iron and in. Initially ruled “no goal” on the ice, the call was reversed and announced as a goal.

After another five-minute tilt, this time from defenseman Jakob Karpa, Lone Star had another opportunity on the power play. It took just four seconds off the faceoff win by Rosenquist, for the shot to fly into the back of the net, once again by Swift, his second goal of the game.

The Warriors outshot the Brahmas and were met by the glove and blocker of William Gramme, left and right, including a trio of saves with a two-man advantage in the final minute of the game. Gramme finished with 33 saves to earn his third win in goal for the Brahmas.

Next up, Lone Star hosts the El Paso Rhinos this Friday & Saturday night for a pair of 7:30 p.m. CT starts at the NYTEX Sports Centre. Tickets are on sale HERE or by calling 817-520-3301.
