Americans Seek Third Straight Win against U.S. Division Opponent

The Americans (4-5-0-0) will match up against the undefeated Portland Winterhawks (7-0-0-0) tonight, looking for their third straight win against a U.S. Division opponent.


Tri-City defeated Spokane last Saturday 4-1 and Everett last night 6-3.

The Americans scored four unanswered goals in the first 7:34 of the third period last night at the Toyota Center to come from behind and down the Silvertips. Tri-City has had a four goal period in three of their four victories so far this season.

Parker Bell led scoring with a pair of goals while Ethan Ernst had one goal and two assists. The Americans have won all four games that Ernst has had multiple points in this season.

20-year-old Ernst is tied with 15-year-old Jordan Gavin as Tri-City’s points leaders with 11 this season.

The Americans and Winterhawks have met once previously this season in Portland. Nick Avakyan played in net for the Americans, turning aside 40 of 44 shots as the Americans fell 4-2.

Portland most recently played last Saturday as they defeated Kamloops 5-4 in a shootout.

Tonight will be the Americans final game before embarking on their six game Eastern Conference road trip. It will be the first time the Americans have visited the Eastern Division since 2018-19.
