September 26, 2022 – Canadian Football League (CFL)B.C. Lions News Release

(Vancouver) – The 9-4-0 BC Lions are playoff-bound and looking to remain in control of second place in the West Division when they host the 3-10-0 Ottawa REDBLACKS on Friday, September 30 presented by BC Hydro and Prospera Credit Union. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm.

Joins us for our Orange Shirt Day Game as the club has partnered with the Orange Shirt Society, the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) and the Ending Violence Association Of British Columbia (EVA BC) to recognize and respect Canada’s National Day For Truth And Reconciliation.

The Orange Shirt Day Game is also supported by Fortis BC, Pomerleau Construction and Leavitt Machinery.

New for this year, the Lions’ helmet for this game will sport our special Indigenous-themed logo (pictured above) designed by Kwakwaka’wakw/Tlingit artist Corrine Hunt.

Along with providing a minimum of 350 game tickets to residential school survivors and their families through IRSSS, the club will hand out free orange t-shirts with the Indigenous-themed logo to the first 10,000 fans through the gates.

Our in-game entertainment for this special evening includes DJ O Show , a Vancouver-based Afro-Indigenous Hip Hop and R&B DJ, with Lady Sinncere performing both the national anthem and her new song about Truth and Reconciliation.

More info on our Orange Shirt Day Game including details surrounding the new Indigenous Vendor Marketplace can be found HERE.

Along with controlling their destiny for a home playoff date in November, the Lions can also clinch their first winning season since 2016 against an Ottawa squad they took down 34-31 in the nation’s capital back in week four on June 30.

The fun begins outside with the return of our Backyard Street Party on Terry Fox Plaza. Happy hour includes $5 beers and deluxe burgers for only $9.

Youth 17 and under can get in for only $10 while accompanying parents can join them for only $25.
