FC DALLAS POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Nico Estévez

What was learned from tonight’s match…

“The mission for this match was to have a positive result than what we experienced. We had the mentality that we could fight for a win. If we analyze this match and all of the chances both teams had, I think we should have scored in some of our chances. It would have been a much closer game and would have changed the momentum of the game. The positive is that everyone on the roster played and it showed that no one was injured. I am happy for the players that normally don’t get any minutes. Seeing Kalil (Elmedkhar), Beni (Redžić), Joshué (Quiñónez), Thoams (Roberts) and Eddie (Munjoma) play made me happy. They played well even though they had not played many minutes. The heat was brutal and playing against a tough opponent is not easy but I am proud of them.”

On the level of MLS and Liga MX play styles…

“I think both teams were not filled with their starting eleven to the max. We were missing key players like Paul (Arriola), Jesús (Ferreira), José (Martínez) and Alan (Velasco). There are players that have not played much this season that started off a little slow but picked up as the game progressed. Tigres had to struggle with the heat. The other clubs had to compete in an official competition and ours was more of a friendly than a competition. We are near the end of the regular season and Tigres are halfway in the season. Our priority right now is playoffs and finishing the season out strong.”

Defender Nkosi Tafari

On what the team takes away from this match…

“We learned about a lot of the guys that don’t normally play too much. We could focus in on some of the other guys like Kalil ElMedkhar who got 90 minutes, Eddie was close to 60 or 70, same with Beni. So we got a lot of guys that got minutes and they can actually implement the tactics we use in training. Also at the same time, we keep focusing in on Colorado. We have two more games left and we want to host a home playoff game that we play here.”
