Storm Set to Face Lumberjacks at Fall Classic

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA. – The Tri-City Storm is set to face the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the team’s second and final game at the 2022 DICK’s Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic today on FedEx Rink 1 at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. The Storm began regular season play in the event last night with a 4-1 victory over the Madison Capitols. Puck drop for today’s matchup between the Storm and the Lumberjacks is scheduled for 4:30pm CT.
Tri-City (1-0-0-0) recorded a season-opening victory last night over the Madison Capitols. Sebastian Törnqvist, Graham Gamache, Kieran Cebrian, and Nick Roukounakis all netted goals in yesterday’s win for Tri-City. Sebastian Wraneschitz notched his first victory of the season, and 14th victory of his career in goal for the Storm. Cameron O’Neill (2), Trevor Connelly, Cale Ashcroft, Kaden Muir, Kieran Cebrian, and Samo Meritähti all scored goals for Tri-City in the team’s opening game of the season. The Storm’s powerplay netted two goals and finished the game 2/4. Tri-City’s penalty kill allowed a goal in the 3rd period, but was 4/5 overall in the game. Today’s game against Muskegon will be Tri-City’s final game against Eastern Conference competition in the 2022-2023 regular season. The Storm will host the Omaha Lancers at the Viaero Center one week from tonight for the organization’s annual Home Opener.
Muskegon (1-0-0-0) enters today’s matchup against the Storm after posting a 7-4 victory yesterday over the Sioux Falls Stampede in the team’s opening game of the season at the Fall Classic. Cody Croal, Owen Melenbacher, Ethan Whitcomb, Jake Richard, David Hymotvitch, George Fegaras, and Sacha Boisvert all netted goals in the three-goal victory. Noah Rupprecht collected the victory in goal for the Lumberjacks after stopping 22 of Sioux Falls’ 26 shots on goal. Muskegon’s powerplay scored twice and finished the game 2/5. The Lumberjacks penalty kill allowed a goal in the 2nd period, and finished the game 2/3. Muskegon completed the 2021-2022 regular season with a final record of 33-23-3-3-3. The team entered the 2022 Clark Cup Playoffs as the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference side of the postseason bracket, and fell to the Madison Capitols in the 2022 Eastern Conference Final.
