September 21, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL) – Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
URBANDALE, Iowa – Equipment problems at the Des Moines Buccaneers’ arena will force the team to move its 2022-23 season home opener to the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex in West Des Moines, team president Nate Teut said today.
“Due to ice maintenance complications, we have learned that Buccaneer Arena will not be ready for our season opener. However, we are excited to announce that we will host our season opener at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex in West Des Moines. Over the last two years, we have faced significant challenges at Buccaneer Arena. Despite those challenges, our ownership remains committed to Buccaneer hockey and the growth of the game in the Des Moines metro. We look forward to showcasing future NCAA stars and NHL players as we celebrate the great game of hockey in the Des Moines metro,” Buccaneers President, Nate Teut said.
The Buccaneers will host the Waterloo Black Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. The doors will open for season ticket holders at 4:45 p.m. Doors will open to the general public at 5:15 p.m. All tickets will be general admission or standing room only, if needed. It is a beautiful facility to play our home opener and offers yet another opportunity for the Buccaneers to play in a different part of the Des Moines metro.”
Teut said, “We know the best fans in the USHL will be there to support their Buccaneers and we look forward to welcoming new Buc fans in the process. Finally, thank you to the city of West Des Moines and the MidAmerican Energy RecPlex for opening their doors to us — Go Bucs!”
