Team Blue Evens Series 1-1 with 7-4 Victory Wednesday

Kitchener, Ont. – Team Blue posted a 7-4 victory over Team White in game two of the 2022 Kitchener Rangers Training Camp, presented by The Armoury Sports Medicine and Performance Clinic, Wednesday night. With the victory, both teams are tied heading into the final game of Camp set for Thursday morning at 10 a.m. ET.
Carson Rehkopf led the way for Team Blue with three goals while Trent Swick tallied twice for Team White. Marcus Vandenberg made 27 saves on 31 shots in 60 minutes of action for Team Blue. Jackson Parsons made 13 saves on 15 shots in 31:05 of play for Team White and Evan Malliet made eight saves on 13 shots in 28:55 of action.
Team Blue started off the scoring on a tic-tac-toe passing play at 5:55 of the opening frame. From the left corner, Kristian Lamanna dished the puck to Mitchell Martin who found Carson Rehkopf back door to earn the early lead. Blue struck again less than three minutes later when Mathieu Comeau found a loose puck at the center-ice red line, led Andrew LeBlanc up the right-wing wall who found Carson McGurn on a 2-on-1 for the lamp-lighter at 8:13.
Team Blue led 2-0 headed into the dressing room after the first 20 minutes of play but Team White led in shots 12-9.
Team White would get on the board at 6:03 of the middle frame. From the right corner, Adrian Misaljevic sent a pass to Ty Hollett at the left-wing point, who fired the puck into the goal blocker-side to bring the game within one.
However, Team Blue scored the next four goals beginning at 11:01 of the second period when Rehkopf scored his second of the night. Then, while on a 2-on-1, Martin dished the puck to Matthew Andonovski who found twine gloveside at 13:58. Joseph Macchione scored the final goal of the second period to earn Team Blue a 5-1 lead when he scored from the slot, top-shelf, at 14:16. The assist was credited to Jack Harper.
Second period shots were 13-12 in favour of Team White for a two-period shot total of 25-21 White.
Then, Team White would score the next three tallies. Trent Swick found the net from in tight in the slot at 5:16 before Daniel Thomakos tallied at 14:22. Reid Valade assisted on both goals. Swick scored his second of the night at 17:57 to earn Team White their fourth and final goal.
Jesse Fishman would add the seventh and final tally of the evening for Team Blue with 1:41 remaining in the contest. Third period shots favoured Team Blue 7-6.
Training Camp wraps-up tomorrow morning with the final game at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium beginning at 10 a.m. ET. All Training Camp games are open and free to the public.
