CARY, NC – North Carolina FC today announced that defender Nelson Flores Blanco has been named to the El Salvador National Team for an international friendly against Peru. The match will be played at Audi Field in Washington DC on Tuesday, September 27 at 8 p.m. ET.

“It’s always a blessing to get called up and represent my country,” Flores Blanco said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to play in my hometown in front of my family and friends. I’m grateful to North Carolina FC for always giving me the exposure, and to Coach Bradford and the staff for helping me to continue to develop me as a player.”

Flores Blanco has featured in 21 matches for NCFC this season, clocking 1,786 minutes of playing time and playing an integral role in bolstering the defense at left back. The 23-year-old boasts a 76.9% tackle success rate, winning 20 tackles and picking up 29 clearances, eight blocks and 30 interceptions.

For his country, Flores Blanco has collected six caps, his most recent being in an international friendly against Panama hosted at WakeMed Soccer Park earlier this year.

“I’m so pleased for Nelson to continue to have the opportunity to represent El Salvador in this upcoming international friendly,” said Head Coach John Bradford. “It’s fantastic for his development to play in these highly competitive games and hopefully he continues to be a player that the federation sees in their future plans.”
