September 17, 2022 – International League (IL)Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

MOOSIC, PA -The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (77-62) overcame three deficits to defeat the Worcester Red Sox 7-5 on Saturday evening. Ronald Guzmán went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored.

Bobby Dalbec opened the scoring in the first with a solo home run to left against RailRiders’ starter Sean Boyle. The big fly was Dalbec’s second at the Triple-A level in 2022 after going yard 11 times with the Boston Red Sox this season.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre answered in the bottom of the second courtesy of Guzmán’s 14th long ball of the year. The Red Sox retook the lead in the third as Dalbec went yard for the second time in as many at-bats to give his team a 3-1 advantage.

The RailRiders knotted things up in the fourth, scoring two runs on three hits. Ryan LaMarre and Guzmán opened the frame with a pair of singles. Two batters later, Rob Brantly singled one tally home and then Armando Alvarez supplied the game-tying RBI with a groundout to second.

SWB grabbed its first lead of the game in the fifth. Michael Beltre led off the inning with a single and later scored on a Chris Owings sacrifice fly to left to make it 4-3 RailRiders. Meanwhile, Boyle bounced back and posted three consecutive scoreless innings on the mound between the fourth and sixth.

Johan Mieses took Boyle deep to tie the game at four apiece in the seventh. He departed following the home run and gave up four runs over 6.1 innings of work with three strikeouts in total. Worcester took its third lead of the game one inning later after an Enmanuel Valdez sac fly made it 5-4 Red Sox.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre mounted one more rally in the eighth. Josh Breaux doubled Guzmán home to tie the game. Four batters later, Beltre delivered the go-ahead knock with a two-out, RBI single to left. Beltre finished the night 2-for-4 in his fourth start of the series. Owings added an insurance run later in the frame after drawing a walk with the bases loaded.
