Alouettes Acquire Thomas Costigan and Nafees Lyon

Montreal – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that the club has acquired American defensive lineman Thomas Costigan, as well as American defensive back Nafees Lyon from the Edmonton Elks. In exchange, Montreal is sending American defensive lineman Avery Ellis, as well as the team’s third round pick in 2023 to Edmonton.
Costigan (6’3″, 245 lbs.) played 22 games in the last two seasons with Edmonton, registering 38 defensive tackles and nine sacks. The former Bryant University Bulldog led the Elks with six sacks in 2021. The 25-year-old holds the team record of 109 defensive tackles in a season with the Bulldogs. He spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Nafees (5’10”, 184 lbs.) cumulated 52 defensive tackles in 13 games over two seasons with the Elks. The 25-year-old also registered a sack on top of intercepting three passes and forcing a fumble.
The Alouettes also announced that they have released American running back Tavien Feaster.
