Wings Drop Friday Night Contest, 8-3

Rochester would open the scoring in the top of the first, as 3B* Jake Alu* connected on a two out, two-run homer (7) to give the Wings a 2-0 before the Mets could come to the plate. An RBI single and wild pitched plated two runs for Syracuse in the bottom half, tying the game up at 2-2 heading into the second frame.


Syracuse picked up six hits over the next two innings, including a homer by Mark Vientos to break the scoring open. Two more runs in the second and three in the third made the score 7-3 after three full innings.

The Wings would cut into the lead in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Alu to make the score 7-3. Syracuse added a run in the seventh, making the score the eventual final of 8-3.

Rochester RHP Franklyn Kilome took the ball and the loss, working 2.1 innings, allowing seven earned on eight hits. This marks his fourth consecutive loss (2-7). RHP* Juan Minaya*, RHP Matt Brill and LHP* Matt Cronin* would cover the final 5.2 innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out five.

The two teams will meet for a fifth time tomorrow night, with the Wings looking to take a 3-2 series lead. RHP Logan Verrett will make his sixth start against the Mets top affiliate. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
