Rising Signs Defender Hayden Sargis on Loan from D.C. United

Phoenix Rising FC has signed defender Hayden Sargis, on loan from Major League Soccer side D.C. United through the end of the 2022 season, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today.


D.C. United retains the right to recall Sargis this season.

“Hayden is a player that fits our game model and our style of play,” said Rising head coach Juan Guerra. “He is a player I know very well from his time in Sacramento. He is a player I enjoy watching. He’ll be able to come in and make a positive impact right away.”Sargis, 20, began his youth career with Barca Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona, playing in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Between Barca and Sacramento Republic, Sargis appeared in 20 USSDA matches between 2017 and 2020. Sacramento Republic signed Sargis to a professional contract on January 15, 2020. The defender made his pro debut on March 7, 2020. He appeared in 33 matches for the Republic through 2021.

D.C. United acquired Sargis from Sacramento on a three-year deal through 2024 with options in 2025 and 2026 on January 24, 2022. He made his debut for D.C. United in a, 3-0, U.S. Open Cup win vs. Flower City Union (NISA) on April 19. Sargis also appeared in 18 matches for the club’s USL affiliate, Loudoun United this season.
