Sebastian Tornqvist Announces Commitment to UMass

KEARNEY, NE. – Tri-City Storm forward Sebastian Törnqvist has announced a commitment to play collegiate hockey in the future at the University of Massachusetts (UMass). Törnqvist was selected 318th overall by the Storm in the 21st round of the 2022 USHL Phase II Draft.


Törnqvist 18, of Göteborg, Sweden, appeared in forty-seven games during the 2021-2022 regular season for Rögle BK J20 (J20 Nationell, Ängelholm, Sweden). He netted eleven goals and recorded twenty-four assists during the regular season. He also scored two goals and notched two goals during four postseason games. He was the team’s leading defensive scorer, and finished the season with a plus/minus rating of +7. Törnqvist previously skated for the Swedish National Team’s Under-19 and Under-16 tournaments. He also skated for Frölunda HC (Göteborg, Sweden), and the Lund Giants (Lund, Sweden) youth program. Törnqvist is 5’11”, 176 lbs, and a righthanded shot.
