USHL Sweeps Hockey Commissioners Association Players of the Month Awards for October

 United States Hockey League

November 3, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release

The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced this week the Players of the Month for October, the Association’s first awards for the 2022-23 season, which featured a pair of United States Hockey League (USHL) alumni. University of Michigan’s Adam Fantilli was awarded the Player and Rookie of the Month honors while St. Cloud State University’s Dominic Basse was named Goaltender of the Month.

Fantilli, a former Chicago Steel (2020-22) forward, is making an immediate impact with Michigan as the rookie has collected at least one point in each of his team’s first eight games of the regular season, amassing 18 total points (8-10-18) in that time. The Nobleton, Ontario native earned First Team All-USHL honors last season after collecting 74 points (37-37-74) in 54 regular season games. In his first full USHL season, Fantilli was part of the Clark Cup Champion Steel roster and was named Clark Cup MVP at just 16-years-old. Fantilli is a top prospect for this summer’s 2023 NHL Draft and was recently listed as an A-Rated skater by NHL Central Scouting on the service’s Preliminary Players to Watch List.

Basse is having a fantastic start to his junior season, winning his first four appearances and collecting a NCHC-leading 1.25 goals against average and 0.945 save percentage. The Chicago Blackhawks prospect (2019, Round 6, #167) is in his first season with St. Cloud after transferring from Colorado College. Basse spent the 2019-20 season with the Youngstown Phantoms and his early season dominance between the pipes helped lead St. Cloud State to a win over then #2 Minnesota State University.

The HCA, created in 2003, is a collection of the NCAA Division I Commissioners.

The USHL has had a bevy of alumni earn Weekly Awards across the Division I hockey conferences this season. For a full list, please visit the USHL Weekly Report.
